3 Ways Senior Safety Bathrooms Are Like Upscale Bathrooms
If you’ve ever seen a bathroom outfitted for senior safety, you may have been looking at a pretty high-end set of installations.
The newest kinds of safety gear and systems are often installed in bathrooms built and designed according to a modern standard. These rooms are much more luxurious than you would’ve seen in the 1970s and 1980s unless you were standing in what people would call a “real mansion,” a place ahead of its times in terms of the latest and greatest features and installations.
Here are some components of senior safety systems that can add to the appeal of a modern bathroom setup. Some of these are becoming a lot more common in modern building plans.
More Space
In decades past, we had tiny full or half baths that were sometimes so compact it was hard to move around in them. One example is the box shower placed extremely close to a toilet, with a small sink and a few closets. That room can be constructed on the basis of 10 x 10′ or something like that.
Many of these newer bathrooms that include senior safety installations are much larger. They may be 30 x 30′, where the shower space is 8 x 8′ or 10 x 10′. To some people, that’s almost too much room! But many would agree there is an element of luxury to showering like this.
That gives the room a distinctly different impression: when you walk in, you feel like you have a lot of space to move around. Then you have more space to install safety gear in, too!
New Types of Installations
Then there are also the new, more modern controls for showering and bathroom plumbing.
For example, you’ll see a wide showerhead that is more like a diffuse nozzle than the kinds of old shower heads you had in older properties.
You may also see additional controls that are more safety-oriented and offer more luxury and a better bathing experience.
Doors, Windows, Etc.
Here’s another place where the utility of safety gear complements the luxury of a modern bathroom.
Think about doors and windows that are automatically or digitally operated. That helps with senior access, but it also adds to the property value and appeal of the bathroom.
Again, all of these modernizations have dual purposes. They make it easier to care for a senior at home, but they also add to the grandeur of this part of the property.
Look at what we can add to your home or your loved one’s living space. With these sorts of innovations, seniors age at home with more confidence, and family members worry less. You’re saving a lot of money and allowing your elders to live on their terms!
